Aromas, Sound, and Moving Displays
There has been recent research on innovative techniques which encourage
customers to stay longer in your retail space (and therefore buy
more). Just as it is important to have attractive display fixtures
and window displays, appropriate lighting, carefully selected aromas,
and background music which is appropriate to your customers' profile
create a pleasant, appealing ambiance.
At the same time, some consumers express concerns about being "manipulated"
and if, for example, the choice of scent or music is offensive to
some, there is a risk of losing them as customers.
Moving displays have been used in store windows, especially at
Christmas time. Carefully chosen, moving displays at any time of
year might help your retail space stand out among other retailers
who rely on passive displays.
