Fairview, Town of

Welcome
Fairview-Heart of the Peace
Tired of the larger urban centre and want the peacefullness of a smaller community with all of the amenities? Fairview just may have what you are looking for. Our population grew between 2001 to 2006 by 5%, with just over 3200 residents and with a trading area of over 8000 residents. We have both the Public and Catholic school sysytems, for grades K-12 and post-secondary programming with NAIT Fairview Campus. We have our own hospital and professional services ranging from doctors, dentist, to lawyers and accountants. Our retail sector boasts grocery stores, drug stores, department stores, building supplies, clothing and specialty outlets. We are a full service urban centre located in the "Heart of the Peace". If you are looking for a full sevice "seniors friendly" community, or looking for a clean, quiet community in which to raise a family, Fairview accomodates all ages and interests.
The following information contained in this profile is provided to assist you in learning more about the community. Please contact our representatives from the "Key Contacts" section to obtain further information about our community.
Area Overview
The Town of Fairview is located at the intersection of Highway 2 and Secondary
Highway 64A, approximately 82 km southwest of Peace River and 115 km north of Grande Prairie. The town was named after an early homestead and prides itself on being the "Heart of the Peace". Fairview began as an agricultural service centre. Carving a niche for itself between the city of Grande Prairie to the south and the town of Peace River to the northeast, Fairview evolved as an important regional centre for education, government, health sector and resource sector services. Having celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2003, the Town of Fairview remains integral to the vibrant future of the Peace Country.
Location
Fairview is located at the junction of Highways 2, 35, 64 and 732. It is a crossroads for travelers to Peace River, Manning, High Level, Ft. Vermilion and Yellowknife; to Hines Creek, Worsley and Ft. St. John; and to Rycroft, Sexsmith, Grande Prairie and beyond.

Economic Base
Fairview is poised for expansion and new economic development now and in the future. Strategically located in the Peace Country at the intersection of Highways 2 and 64A,
the Town of Fairview has the infrastructure to handle future economic development, be
it natural gas, oil, forestry, sand and gravel, iron ore, tourism and/or new technology sectors.
The Town of Fairview is a prime location for development, with suitable sub-divisions, adequate water, roads and sewers; all the infrastructure requirements for well planned successful economic development. ATCO provides Fairview's natural gas and electricity.
Fairview's water is pumped from the Peace River into town reservoirs. With plenty of reserve capacity, Fairview has a high quality water supply for residential, commercial and/or industrial use. In addition to the potential for recreational opportunities afforded by the Peace River, future hydro electric power generation stands to create further economic development (http://www.canhydro.com)
