Area Overview
The Town of Taber is a clean, friendly town of 7,671 people with a central strategic location. First established in 1899 by homesteaders, the Taber area had its beginnings with coal mining until the development of irrigation and the production of sugar beets re-established the town as an agricultural service centre.
Known as the "Market Garden of Alberta", Taber is the centre of the most varied crop production in the province and perhaps anywhere else in Canada. In particular, the quality of its corn crop is world famous.
Taber residents boast a very enjoyable quality of life. Facilities for almost all types of recreation from an 18 hole golf course to an indoor Aquafun Centre are available locally. In particular, Taber is home to many major ball tournaments in the summer, and has hosted provincial and regional summer and winter games on a frequent basis.
