Onoway is bisected by the Lac Ste. Anne Trail. This historical trail was the route that traders, Natives, pack trains and settlers used in the 1800's. Among the pioneers was Father Thibault who traveled the trail in 1842, from Fort Edmonton to Lac Ste. Anne, where he opened a Catholic Mission. Each July, the route is retraced by visitors from across North America during the annual spiritual pilgrimage to Lac Ste. Anne, about 16 kilometers west of Onoway.
