The region boasts a high standard of education - with smaller classrooms and diverse programs, students not only receive a quality education, but the individual attention not available in larger centres.
90% satisfaction rate among parents
In a March 2000 school board survey of 1,310 parents from Golden Hills School Division, 90% indicated they were satisfied with the efforts of teachers to provide a good program and to meet the needs of their children (Annual Education Report - Golden Hills School Division #75, 2000).

Help is close at hand in Wheatland County
In Wheatland County, you are never more than 35km from a hospital. With Strathmore Hospital within Wheatland County's municipal boundary, and Bassano Hospital only 3km from the south-eastern boundary, Drumheller Hospital just 10km from the north-eastern boundary, and Calgary's Peter Lougheed Hospital only 25km from the eastern border, help is close at hand.

Neighbours still help neighbours in Wheatland County
In Wheatland County, community spirit is alive and well. From the $1.4 million raised in Hussar to build a new arena, to the $20,000 raised in Rockyford in one weekend for cancer research, and the thousands raised for a Lyalta family who lost their home to fire, Wheatland County residents still rally together to support their community.
Community groups in nearly every community, no matter how small
No matter how small a community appears to be, you can usually find at least one club or association in every Wheatland community. The purpose of these groups range from providing social opportunities for local members, to putting on events, doing group fitness activities, or raising money for local charities. A grain elevator and a community hall
One of the highest priorities for farmers and other residents of Wheatland County was to build their very own community hall. Today, community halls are scattered throughout Wheatland County and serve as places for wedding receptions, Christmas concerts, family reunions, bridal showers, dances, and community shakers of all sorts. Peace of mind
Many residents and business owners choose to locate in Wheatland County because of the safety and security of small town living. As indicated by the table at right, crime statistics are substantially lower in the region than typical of a larger metropolitan center like the City of Calgary.

For those days when you seek to escape the wide-open skies of the prairies, a day trip to the Rocky Mountains may be in order. From Wheatland County, one is only 145km (90 miles) from the gates of Banff National Park. Many residents of Wheatland County are avid skiers and snowboarders.

This West Highway #1 Area Structure Plan's objectives include:

- to allow the continuation of existing land uses.
- to ensure an economical, user-pay road network, compatible with long range Provincial freeway development planning objectives.
- to ensure a high quality of development standards befitting proximity to the Trans Canada Highway.
- to provide for an effective development process in terms of application processing, engineering, landscaping, environmental and economic considerations.
The location of the Area Structure Plan relative to the Calgary Oil & Gas service industry, as well as it's proximity to Strathmore, as a rapidly growing residential community, offers opportunities for long term development of industrial/commercial land uses. This designtaion allows for industrial land users in Calgary, to secure the type of access required to serve their operational hinterland in a flexible and convenient manner.
Alberta has one of the lowest overall tax rates in Canada. With no provincial sales tax, provincial general capital tax, payroll tax or machinery and equipment tax coupled with a combined federal/provincial corporate income tax rate of less than 30.1% by 2004, Alberta is positioned to become one of the most attractive business tax regimes in North America.
In 2004, Alberta reduced its general corporate income tax rate from 13.5% to 8%. The combined federal/provincial corporate income tax rate was less than 30.1% in 2004.
In addition to the provincial tax benefits, the Wheatland County has no business tax and very affordable business licenses, on average $50 per year. This is compared to a Calgary business tax of 9.04% of assessed property value. (2002)
